Only 80 kilometers from the cosmopolitan metropolis of Durban, on the North Coast of KwaZulu Natal, lies the beautiful lagoon and beach conservancy of Zinkwazi.
Part of the scenic Dolphin Coast with its famous beaches and centre of the Indian culture, it is also located on the historical King Shaka Route and the start of the Zululand Birding Route, a gateway to the splendid game reserves, world heritage sites, cultural attractions and spectacular historical sites of the Zulu Kingdom.

You are constantly surrounded by the amazing bird song of the tropical forest, the tranquility of a great variety of palms along the calm waters of the magnificent lagoon, the constant roar of the Indian Ocean surf in the background. Our balmy, subtropical climate encourages an open air, ‘alfresco’ lifestyle.

This theme is carried over in the design of our accommodation, with an emphasis on natural and African materials, reflecting the colours and moods of our environment. Chalets, Suites and Sites are scattered in the extensive grounds amongst tropical trees and palms. Our Chalets have lovely lagoon views. All rooms come with double or twin beds and most have en-suite bathrooms. They are equipped with ceiling fans, TV’s and covered patios, and are designed to maximise the outdoor experience. Our private suites and family lodges also have their own lounges and at least 2 en-suite bedrooms.
Bed & Breakfast and Full Board options are available on site. Meals served at the Raffia Restaurant or on the Forest Deck. Special function menus are a regular feature. Our coastal African setting is also reflected in our delicious cuisine. We specialise in fresh fish dishes and spicy local curries. Special themed events are organised on the Forest Deck or Boma surrounded by palms and nature whilst sundowners are enjoyed at the Havana Bar overlooking the lagoon.

Forest Camp Sites
An Eco Camp-site for the whole family
The camp is set in a lush riverine forest with many tropical palms and flowering trees, constantly ringing with a chorus of birdsong, creating a very special atmosphere close to nature. The terraced forest setting provides protection from the elements and surrounds a central recreational lawn with pool, playground, games hall, communal braais and dry pub. Ablution blocks, with scullery and laundry facilities, are conveniently scattered throughout the camp.

Caravaners and Campers
You will find our well demarcated stands create a feeling of protection and privacy through the liberal use of screening shrubs. The unique setting under the forest canopy provides lots of shade – welcome relief after a hot day on the beach. On some stands shade gives way to sun and grass. 15 Amp power connections are provided free of charge to all sites (bring a 25m extension cord). Please bring your own portable braai if you want to braai on your own stand.
Super Sites
If you want to bring lots of extra equipment and like to spread out with space to spare – then we also provide the option of our extra large super sites. They are a minimum of 180 square meters and come with their own built in braai, table and bin.
Lagoon Chalets
All of these are situated on the lagoon with beautiful views.
Lagoon chalets have open plan living areas with kitchen and covered patio. This arrangement gives the cook a share in the holiday mood, taking the chore out of meal times and the built-in patio braai gives the men an opportunity to get involved..
Furnished with elaborate attention to detail. No re-arranging of furniture necessary at bed time. Each has one double and two twin bedrooms, comfortably housing six adults in 95 square meters. Two bathrooms, one with bath, toilet and basin, the other with a shower, toilet and basin, cater for all needs.
With private patios, small secluded gardens or decks overlooking the lagoon, these units provide visitors with elegant living spaces for an extremely comfortable stay. Each has a TV and Microwave and all rooms have ceiling fans. Daily servicing (dishes on request) allows for a carefree relaxing holiday with considerable privacy.
Self-catering at its best
At Zinkwazi our chalets are maintained to the highest standards and are fully equipped for self-catering purposes. Chalets are serviced.

Hotel Suites
These twenty-one single rooms are situated amongst tropical trees and palms.
Each room has en-suite shower, toilet and basin. A number of our rooms can be single or double bed on request. Each room has its own 12 channel 32″ TV and is air conditioned.
These rooms are serviced daily. Maximum 2 persons per room.
